Mayor's Corner
A Word from Mayor Chuck
Here’s what’s happening in Crescent!
The City Council has been meeting to finish up this year’s budget and preparing for next year’s budget.
Crescent will be receiving money from the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors. Some of the items we are looking to use these funds for will be….making a safer sidewalk to the school, add a sidewalk from Golden Hills Addition to the Dollar General Store, and adding some new playground equipment at the park. I will keep everyone informed as we proceed.
We are still working hard to get funding to help cover the $4 million needed to meet the new DNR specs on our sewer upgrade. We have received approximately $1.5 million but aren't even close to having the money needed to get this project started.
All homes should have a working water shutoff in your house. I would suggest you give it a try and make sure it’s working properly. If you have a water leak in your home, you want to be able to turn it off without calling a plumber in the middle of the night, which brings me to this.
The city is not responsible for turning off your water unless you don't pay your bill. Calling People Service is not the right call if you have an issue… You need to call a plumber. If you call People Service to come out and shut your water off because you have an internal leak, they will be charging you, the homeowner, not the city. So please, please make sure you can turn your water off inside your home.
We have had a very cold start to winter and it's hard to keep caught up on some road patches, so please have patience. We need the weather to get a little warmer.
